Title: Executive Vice-President / Human Resources Director

Member of KHC for: One month

Provide a brief description of your job: I’m responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of HR-related programs at the bank. I also serve as our board’s Corporate Secretary.

What are you currently working on that you are most excited about? How do you think it will drive improvements to health and healthcare in the community?

For the first time, First Harrison Bank is self-funding a segment of our employee medical insurance. We are excited about the potential cost savings we think this arrangement will offer and are already thinking of ways we can invest the cost savings into other employee benefit/wellness programs.

Improving health is one of the three main priorities of the Triple Aim. What are the best strategies for improving health in our community?

It all starts with education. Providing information to consumers so that they can make the most informed decisions for themselves and their family as it relates to providers, services, and strategies for health and wellness.

Why do you think a multi-stakeholder coalition like the KHC is needed in the community?

With something as large and as important as the healthcare industry, it’s crucial to have a central entity that coordinates with all stakeholders so that information is shared for the betterment of the industry and the community. We are fortunate to have KHC doing this great work in our area!

What do you do in your spare time?

I love to travel and visiting all 63 U.S. National Parks is on my bucket list. I’m hoping a trip to Alaska is in my near future!

What is your dream vacation spot?

I don’t think I can name just one – Ireland and Rome top the list of places I haven’t yet visited. Hawaii and Banff, Canada are favorite spots where I have traveled.
