Share your personal interest in Health and Healthcare System Improvement.

My personal interest in healthcare improvement is developing a model for addiction treatment that is tailored to one’s needs, innovative, high quality and delivers great outcomes.

What are you currently working on that you are most excited about? How do you think it will drive improvements to health and healthcare in the community?

Renew Recovery is developing a tool that will help small and large employers refer those that need addiction treatment or behavioral healthcare to the right level of care. This tool will also help direct employees to quality treatment. All too often, employees are directed to the highest level of care and many times to treatment centers that have no outcomes or quality metrics. This project will not only drive down cost for the employer and payer but help employees find long term quality care instead of sporadic crisis driven treatment.

Why do you and your organization belong to the KHC? What do you find most valuable as a member?

I belong to the KHC because I like working on a team at the macro level to drive change.  KHC’s value as a member lies within networking, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions and finding solutions to complex health problems.

Why do you think a multi-stakeholder coalition like the KHC is needed in the community?

Healthcare is highly fragmented; the industry has long suffered from a lack of coordination, high variability and failure to tie costs to quality. As a multi-stakeholder group, we can come together to collaborate, share best practices and drive change.

What is your favorite quote?

“Everything which you can conceive and accept is yours! Entertain no doubt. Refuse to accept worry, hurry or fear. That which knows and does everything is inside you and harkens to the slightest whisper.” – Uell Stanley Andersen

What are you passionate about?

Raising kind humans. I tell my children that I don’t send them to school to become the best at anything at all. I send them to school to practice being brave and kind, because that’s what the world needs.
