The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit representing hundreds of the nation’s most influential employers and purchasers of healthcare, recently announced the fall 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The KHC is a Regional Leader for the Leapfrog Group. As a Regional Leader, the KHC is Leapfrog’s partner in Kentucky and Southern Indiana, and Leapfrog in turn supports our efforts with purchasers and others in the community to improve the value of healthcare in the area. The KHC asks hospitals to report to the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, recognizes hospitals for excellence and improvement, and receives use of Leapfrog data for public reporting.
On November 6, the Leapfrog Group released their fall 2023 Hospital Safety Grades. Over 3,000 general hospitals across the country were assigned a grade of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” based on more than 30 national measures of preventable errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. In this cycle, 30% of hospitals earned an “A,” 24% earned a “B”, 39% earned a “C”, 7% earned a “D”, and less than 1% earned an “F”.
Thank you to our Kentucky hospitals that participated in the Hospital Safety Grades survey. 61 hospitals were represented in the fall 2023 Grades, with 12 receiving an “A”, 13 receiving a “B”, 27 receiving a “C”, 8 receiving a “D” and 1 receiving an “F”. As a Leapfrog Regional Leader, the KHC encourages all our Kentucky and southern Indiana hospitals to participate in the Leapfrog surveys.
