Dress in Blue Day – Friday, March 4th

Filed Under: KHC News March 4, 2011, Stephanie Clouser

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Friday, March 4 is Dress in Blue Day.  Please join the third annual nationwide campaign to raise awareness about this preventable disease and to increase colon cancer screening.  Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in the country as well as in Kentucky; killing nearly 900 people each year here in our state.  Colorectal cancer screening saves lives, but unfortunately many people are not being screened.  When colon cancer is found early and treated, the 5-year survival rate is 90%.  To learn more, visithttp://www.kycancerprogram.org/special-events.

Wear Blue on March 4th and tell your friends and family why.
