New Members Added to KHC Executive Committee

The Kentuckiana Health Collaborative (KHC) announces the appointment of eight new Executive Committee members. KHC staff and current Executive Committee members are happy to welcome new members Don Lovasz, Gil Liu, DeAnna Hall, Brenda Miles, Stephen Houghland, Andrew Renda, Emily Beauregard and Sarah Moyer.

The KHC is extending its reach across multiple healthcare sectors to engage key healthcare leaders to work collaboratively toward the Triple Aim goals of better health, better care and better value. The KHC serves as a catalyst to transform healthcare and the overall health of our community.

The eight new members join a six-member Executive Committee that oversees the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative’s general operations and strategic direction.

Don Lovasz is President and CEO of KentuckyOne Health Partners. He has 30 years of clinical, healthcare management and healthcare outsourcing experience at the community, regional and national levels. Don has a strong healthcare IT background including supporting CMS initiatives on transparency. KentuckyOne Health Partners is a nationally recognized provider-based care management company.

 

 

Gil Liu, MD is the Endowed Chair for Urban Health Policy Research at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and Medical Director for the Kentucky Department of Medicaid Services. Dr. Liu is a pediatrician with more than 20 years of experience. He has studied healthcare system improvement as a School of Medicine faculty member. From 2013 to 2016, Dr. Liu served as the Director for the UofL Division of General Pediatrics, one of Kentucky’s largest pediatric primary care networks that is focused on serving the state’s most vulnerable families.

 

DeAnna Hall is manager of corporate health and wellness at LG&E-KU. DeAnna has worked in healthcare for over two decades as a Registered Nurse and Corporate Health Specialist. She is interested in advancing our state, community and companies toward the Triple Aim goals.

 

 

 

Brenda Miles is Director of Benefits for Papa John’s International, Inc. She is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). As Director of Benefits, Brenda makes recommendations for all health and welfare benefits which include health plan designs, financial projections and overall strategy of health and wellness initiatives. She works with senior leaders to manage the cost impact to Papa John’s while remaining competitive and fair for team members.

Stephen Houghland, MD is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Passport Health Plan. Dr. Houghland’s specialty is Internal Medicine. In taking a broad view of the healthcare landscape, he looks at how his efforts can make the largest impact in our system of care, both on the delivery and finance sides of healthcare. Dr. Houghland is involved in many process improvement initiatives across the spectrum, from “micro to macro” in scope.

 

Andrew Renda, MD is Director of Bold Goal at Humana, Inc. Dr. Renda received his medical degree in Psychiatry from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, followed by a master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University. He is trained formally in population health, and has nearly 10 years of experience in managed care. Dr. Renda cares deeply about local health issues, ranging from air quality to the rising prevalence of chronic disease to health equity. Dr. Renda wants to contribute to a collective impact approach to improving health that involves convening multiple local stakeholders to focus on policy change and systems improvement.

Emily Beauregard is Executive Director for Kentucky Voices for Health. She has a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Education and Health Promotion. As a consumer advocate, Emily is committed to creating a healthcare system that truly meets the needs of all Kentuckians, a system that promotes wellness and health literacy, engages consumers, values diversity and provides fully integrated, person-centered care. Her experience working with refugees and immigrants at a community health center and developing and overseeing one of Kentucky’s three outreach and enrollment programs, taught her that there is more to improving the health of a community than only addressing medical care.

Sarah Moyer, MD is the Medical Director for Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness, focusing on population health. Dr. Moyer is a family physician and has a Master’s in Public Health. She believes that every system is perfectly designed for the results it gets. If we want health equity for all, we need to re-design the system we work in. Dr. Moyer will bring her expertise of public health and health equity to the KHC.
