Recommendations to Improve Screening for Diabetes-Related Nephropathy and Retinopathy

In response to low screening rates for diabetes-related nephropathy and retinopathy in Kentucky, the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative (KHC) partnered with the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program within the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) to assess the barriers preventing people with diabetes from receiving recommended screenings and to develop recommendations for increasing screening rates.

This report outlines the methodologies used for data collection and analysis, presents key findings, and provides recommendations to support earlier detection of diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy, ultimately improving health outcomes for people with diabetes.
