Opioids and the Workplace: An Employer Toolkit for Supporting Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery

April 18, 2019

Event Overview

With the nation in the midst of an opioid crisis, employers are facing many negative consequences. In the workplace, issues with safety, productivity, absenteeism, and retention are on the rise. Furthermore, a behavioral healthcare system that isn’t providing high-quality, evidence-based care is increasing employer’s healthcare spend without improving their employees’ health, and in some cases harming it. Inadequate and often stigmatizing workplace policies and culture leave employees fearful of repercussions associated with seeking help for substance use and employers fearful of how to balance supporting their employees and protecting their business. These situations are fueled by employer’s lack of understanding on what the issue looks like within their workforce, leaving them stuck without solutions.

The KHC has developed an employer toolkit funded by the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE) to help employers learn best practices around using claims data, benefits, and workplace policies to support their employees in prevention, treatment, and recovery from opioid misuse. Join the KHC at this half day event to learn how implementing these best practices can positively impact your workforce and business.

Webinar

In addition to the employer roundtable, the KHC will offer a complementary webinar, “Opioids and the Workplace: Employer Toolkit Review.” Please register for the webinar below. The information to join the webinar is below. We hope you can join us!Webinar Registration HereWebinar instructions here
