Rising rates of overdose deaths and high prevalence of substance use disorders have negatively affected communities across Kentucky. Employers have been no exception to these negative effects, experiencing challenges around hiring, absenteeism, productivity, retention, and healthcare spending. In recent years, Kentucky employers have been on the front lines of supporting their employees through aligning their workplace policies and health plan benefit design with evidence-based substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
The Kentuckiana Health Collaborative, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy, and the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort have partnered to develop the Kentucky Transformational Employment Program (KTEP.) KTEP is a program outlined by Kentucky Senate Bill 191 that allows for employer-facilitated substance use disorder treatment for offerees or employees following a positive drug screen that also provides employer protections against negligent hiring and retention. Join us virtually on Tuesday, September 14 from 8am-10am to learn about KTEP and the how transformational employment can play a role in preventing, treating, and supporting remission and recovery from substance use disorders.
