December 7, 2021 @ 8:30 am 10:30 am

Social determinants of health have increasingly been at the forefront of health and healthcare stakeholders’ priorities in recent years with the recognition that factors such as housing, transportation, food, and environment are primary drivers of health and well-being. As employers and healthcare purchasers work to foster optimal health outcomes and well-being for their employee populations, these social determinants of health must also be considered.

In late 2020, the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Network of Public Health Institutes, Pittsburgh Business Group on Health, and Kentuckiana Health Collaborative partnered in an innovative learning collaborative dedicated to engaging employers in this work. Six employers engaged in the yearlong collaborative to analyze and take action on social needs, social risk factors, and social determinants of health within their workforces.
