Community Health Workers (CHWs) are trusted members of local communities who bridge the gap between individuals and healthcare services, playing a key role in improving health outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and addressing health disparities. By supporting community members, CHWs help individuals navigate the complexities of the healthcare system—whether it’s finding a provider, understanding insurance coverage, or overcoming barriers like transportation and time off work for appointments.
Since the adoption of CHWs in Kentucky in 1994, their impact has been growing steadily, with over 350 certified CHWs across the Commonwealth. As the need for their services continues to rise, it is crucial to ensure the sustainability of these programs to maximize their long-term benefits for Kentucky communities.
Join the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative, in partnership with the Kentucky Department for Public Health, on March 18, 2025, for a Community Health Forum focused on how to strengthen, support, and sustain CHW programs in Kentucky. This event will bring together stakeholders to explore strategies that will ensure the ongoing success and positive impact of CHWs in Kentucky.
This event is being offered in a hybrid format.
