Change brings opportunity, and in late 2024, the Kentuckiana Health Collaborative (KHC) seized an opportunity to set a new course by developing a refreshed organizational strategic plan. A strong strategic plan provides the foundation for any organization to stay focused on its mission and vision. With both a leadership transition and the previous plan nearing expiration, the timing was right to establish this new foundation for the KHC.
Developing a strategic plan requires balancing many factors, including organizational legacy, current social and political contexts, feasibility and capacity, and the organization’s unique role within a broader landscape of partners and stakeholders. The KHC approached this work through a year-long, collaborative process. Staff, board members, and member organizations engaged in group discussions, one-on-one interviews, organizational analyses, and surveys to help shape the plan’s direction.
These collective insights guided the development of the final plan, unveiled at the KHC’s Annual Conference, A Vision for Healthcare Value, on October 14, 2025. The plan introduces a renewed mission, updated values, refined strategies and goals, and a clear vision of the KHC’s desired impact. Below is a summary of these key elements. We’re excited to share our path forward.
Vision
A future where all people in Kentucky and Southern Indiana have access to high-quality, affordable, and equitable healthcare.
Mission
To champion a more effective healthcare ecosystem through collaboration, insights, and education.
Values
- Collaboration: We believe that improving healthcare is a shared responsibility and that no single organization has all of the answers. We bring together different voices, experiences, and expertise because sustainable, meaningful solutions come from working and learning together.
- Integrity: We believe clear, accurate, accessible information builds trust and enhances decision making. We work to make healthcare more transparent so everyone has the tools they need to support health outcomes.
- Transparency: We show up with a shared sense of purpose, recognizing that we all want to support healthier communities. We lead and convene tough but necessary conversations to move healthcare forward while staying grounded in community impact.
- Innovation: We proactively move beyond the status quo to promote a more responsive, efficient, and equitable healthcare system that meets the needs of communities.

- Regional stability and long-term vitality are strengthened through a healthier population and more sustainable healthcare spending.
We’re excited to see this plan come to life in the years ahead, bringing fresh ideas, new partnerships, and a renewed focus on what’s possible for our region. True to the legacy of the KHC, we believe our vision is only achievable through the collective efforts of all healthcare stakeholders. Together, we can build a healthcare ecosystem that delivers on the promise of quality, affordability, and equity for every person in our community.
