Share your personal interest in health and healthcare system improvement.

Delivering care to patients and families was a great privilege and a humbling experience. Being a part of the larger team of dedicated people who were called to provide for the health care needs of a community gave me the opportunity to see the energy and love they all gave to that goal. Seeing how the “system” within which that team worked created barriers for patients, providers, and communities motivated my transition into quality improvement and leadership development. They are some of the key components that will provide solutions to the challenges we face now and in the future.

What are you currently working on that you are most excited about? How do you think it will drive improvements to health and healthcare in the community?

The demands placed upon the women and men who provide care for our patients continue to mount. They are magnified by a host of issues and forces, many of which are beyond their control. The increasing toll that is being exacted from these people takes many forms but ultimately diminishes their capacity to care for our community. The Norton Medical Group is deeply involved in identifying, understanding, and addressing the issues and solutions to those issues. The opportunity to work with our committed providers and the team that supports them is a privilege and an honor.

Why do you think a multi-stakeholder coalition like the KHC is needed in the community?

The provision of healthcare and its contribution to the overall health of a community is the result of a multitude of separate events in which every person and organization in that community must engage in order to have the best outcomes. KHC was created to bring those individuals and entities together to solve problems that only a complete group of stakeholders can address effectively.

What is your favorite quote?

“It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” – Harry Truman

What do you do in your spare time?

I serve with Teach To Transform a Christian ministry that equips indigenous pastors and believers to share the love of Christ by teaching medical care, farming, and vocational skills.
